The house most likely started as a relatively simple farmhouse. At some point around 1840, it was extended and remodeled in the then fashionable Greek Revival style.
It subsequently passed through several owners and gradually fell into disrepair. In the late 1980s or early 1990s it was extensively renovated and the kitchens and bathrooms were updated. The house was then owned for some two decades by a lady from New York City who used it as a country getaway and apparently loved it.

At that point, the house needed quite a bit of love and attention; this website chronicles our adventures in updating and living in it.
